I have never been so excited for it to be Ash Wednesday. I think we are all exhausted because New Orleans has been in the celebrating mood since Christmas due to the Saints’s successful football season and carnival season. Mardi Gras was yesterday, so today feels like a new year. My favorite parts of the carnival season (besides King Cake) are the Flambeaux (Keepers of the Light) and the bands. This year the Saints played a big role in the festivities. In fact, Drew Brees was the King of Bacchus, which led to a huge amount of people waiting along St. Charles Avenue for a glimpse of the Superbowl M.V.P.
